Dr. Anderson earned both the Master of Arts in English and Doctor of Philosophy from Duke University, and was chosen for membership in Phi Beta Kappa. She had completed undergraduate studies at Bryn Mawr College in 1936, cum laude, She taught English at Beaver College (Pennsylvania), Mount Holyoke College (Massachusetts), Hollins College (Virginia), and Memphis State University (Tennessee). She was employed some years as librarian and medical editor at the Campbell Foundation; she worked more than twenty years as a medical transcriptionist.
Memphis was home to Dr. Anderson in retirement. She said that "poetry has been a shield, and a fortress, and always a joy," This chap-book collects poems published in various journals since 1945.
